Governor Wanga launches distribution of 9350kgs of sorghum seeds

Governor Gladys Wanga has launched distribution of 9350kg of sorghum seeds valued at 6.5 million in an effort to combat the impact of drought in Ndhiwa, Suba South, and Suba North Sub Counties.

The distribution includes 7850kg of Sorghum Gadam seeds that once harvested will be supplied to East African Breweries Limited and 1500kg of Sorghum Seredo seeds for food security.

Additionally, the support comprises 1200 liters of dewormers and vaccines worth 1.2 million along with 18 million in cash transfers to 1500 households.

The initiative is funded by German Cooperation is a collaboration between the County Government of Homa Bay, Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the National Government Administration and the First Bridge Foundation as the service providers.

It will be implemented in 11 wards including; Ruma Kaksingri East, Kaksingri West, Gwassi North, Gwassi South, Lambwe, Gembe, Kosewe, South Kabuoch, Kanyikela, Kanyadoto, and Kwabwai.

This project aims to create stronger and more self-sufficient communities in the region.
