The government has announced a new initiative that will provide soft loans to youth travelling abroad for employment opportunities.
Speaking today at an event at the Taita Taveta National Polytechnic, Labour Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime said the initiative is particularly focused on assisting young individuals seeking jobs in Dubai and Europe.
The PS urged the youth to seize the forthcoming opportunities and commended KCB Bank Voi for offering loans at a single-digit interest rate, ranging from 300,000 to 650,000 Kenyan shillings for those travelling to Gulf and European countries, respectively.
“The government is also providing financial support of up to 185,000 Kenyan shillings through the Youth Fund, which is repayable over six months, to further assist these young individuals in their employment endeavours.” Said PS Mwadime
He highlighted the importance of having a valid license for riders, as this is a critical requirement for employers in Dubai.
The recruitment process is set to continue until next Monday, offering additional opportunities for young Kenyans to secure employment abroad.
Over 100 attendees gathered to obtain necessary documents and participate in interviews for various positions, including riders, construction workers, and security guards.
