Government to launch nationwide mobile ID registration drive

The Government is set to launch the mobile registration drive for the issuance of National Identity Cards Wednesday morning.

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is expected to preside over the launch of the exercise at Shabab in Nakuru West Subcounty.

The exercise which is set to be carried out Countrywide follows the President directive to scrap the 300 Shillings fee which was initially charged those seeking new National IDs.

Speaking in Kibera last week President William Ruto also directed that all those seeking IDs should not be subjected to any vetting but will be required to only produce their birth certificates and parents identification documents.

Officers from the National Registration bureau have pitched camp at Shabab ground to conduct the mobile registration drive where hundreds of Nakuru resident have turned up for the event in search for IDs..

Those who will register today are expected to receive IDs within 10 days.
