Casamigos, the premium tequila co-founded by Hollywood actor George Clooney, is expanding its footprint in Kenya’s growing luxury spirits market.

East African Breweries Limited (EABL) hosted a distributor launch at Nairobi’s Sankara Hotel, signalling an intensified focus on establishing the brand following its initial introduction at the Blankets & Wine festival in late 2024.

The blue-themed event saw the attendance of notable personalities including Jay Take A Pic, Miano Muchiri and Ajib Gathoni.

Guests adhered to the “shades of blue” dress code complementing the brand’s aesthetic. Juke Box band provided live entertainment during the event.

The drinks market in Kenya is increasingly embracing high-end imported spirits, with urban consumers and upscale establishments leading the shift toward premium brands.

“This launch is a critical move in our strategy to establish Casamigos as premium tequila in Kenya,” stated Alvin Mbugua, General Manager Spirits, EABL. “Our vision is to elevate the premium spirits category and this event empowers our partners to be ambassadors of that vision.”

Casamigos, whose name translates to “House of Friends,” was founded in 2013 by Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman before being acquired by spirits giant Diageo in 2017.

As Casamigos continues its rollout in Kenya, it joins a growing trend of international premium spirits targeting Africa’s emerging markets.
