The future of women in leadership is looking increasingly promising, with the unity and determination displayed by the Women Governors Caucus (G7) sending a powerful message.

Women leaders are positioning themselves to take on roles not just at the grassroots and county levels but also on the national stage.

Speaking at the Kianyaga Stadium during the Kirinyaga G7 Activation Forum, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti underscored the commitment of women governors to service delivery.

“We are sharpening each other on matters of leadership and exchanging great ideas,” said Governor Ndeti, emphasizing that their focus remains on delivering results, not engaging in political theatrics.

During her speech, Ndeti challenged Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru to step up to the national political arena after completing her second term in office.

“You have served your electorate diligently, and your legacy will inspire generations to come. Now it’s time to move forward and serve Kenyans on a broader platform,” she urged.

Governor Ndeti also highlighted Machakos as a prime example of women excelling in leadership across key positions.

In Machakos, women hold top roles, including the Governor, Senator, County Women Representative, County Speaker, and County Commissioner.

This push by women to enter elective positions is gaining momentum, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the 2027 elections.

Historically, women voters have been hesitant to back female candidates despite making up the majority of the electorate.

However, this trend is shifting rapidly, with women increasingly recognizing the strength and value of female leadership.

Political analysts are closely watching this emerging wave of women leadership, led by the G7 Women Governors Caucus, which could redefine Kenya’s political landscape.
