Fire razes down Kerugoya Boys’ dormitory

Kerugoya Boys’ High School in Kirinyaga County is counting losses after an inferno razed down one of the dormitories last evening.

The fire which began shortly before 8PM left many students in the cold and property of unknown value destroyed in the incident that occurred as students attended their evening classes.

John Kiama, head of county fire department, said they received information about the incident and acted promptly but were unable to rescues properties inside the dormitory which were already been destroyed by the fire.

He said no casualties and assured parents that their children are all safe.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Allasow who visited the school said the investigations have began to ascertain the cause of the fire calling for calm among the stakeholders in the institution.

He directed the county security team with the school principal to ensure safety of all the students.
