Kenyan Comedian, Eric Omondi has pledged to host an event commemorating the Kenyans who died during the Anti-Finance Bill protests in June.
The comedian has asked Kenyans to suggest potential venues for the event noting that the chief guests of the day will be the families of the Kenyans who lost their lives.
In a social media post, the comedian-turned-activist invited Kenyans to attend the event honouring the dead protesters as fallen heroes.
“It’s official. We will be hosting a parallel Mashujaa Day Mega Event on 20th October to celebrate our Heroes/Shujaas who died during the protests.”
This year, the National Mashujaa Day Celebrations will be held at the Kwale Main Stadium in Kwale County.
Omondi has been in the spotlight on several occasions for pulling public stunts as part of his political activism.
During the Anti-Finance Bill protests, Omondi was arrested and detained while riding a horse on his way to parliament in the company of other protesters.
In August, the comedian called a press conference at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi to launch a signature collection drive to initiate a referendum process.
He stated that a referendum was required to reduce the number of counties and elective positions in the country noting that sustaining the devolved government was a burden on Kenyan tax-payers.
