Lawyer Tim Kipchumba among six candidates cleared by IEBC.

A total of candidates have been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to vie for Elgeyo Marakwet Senate seat.

The seat fell vacant after Kipchumba Murkomen was named Roads Cabinet Secretary.

IEBC has cleared lawyer Tim Kipchumba of the Party for Peace and Development to vie for the seat.

Kipchumba will battle it out with William Kisang of UDA party in during the by-election that has been slated for January 5, 2023.

Kisang who was the UDA candidate in the Marakwet West parliamentary race lost to lawyer Timothy Kipchumba, an independent candidate.

Party for Peace and Development is an affiliate of Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The race to succeed Murkomen has also attracted Jerotich Seii (Safina Party), Matthew Tuigong (Independent), and Timothy Tanui (The New Democrats).
