The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has launched investigations into alleged theft of public funds in Nandi County orchestrated through employment of ghost workers and payroll fraud.

As part of the probe, the antigraft agency has seize documents and other crucial evidence tied to the alleged embezzlement scheme following a raid conducted on Thursday.

This comes after the county failed to comply with an order from the Commission to provide requested records by Monday, 30th September, 2024, to its North Rift Regional Offices in Eldoret.

Confirming the operation, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said that it was carried out under court orders after the county repeatedly failed to meet the Commission’s demands.

The letters requesting documentation had been addressed to the County Secretary, seeking details critical to the ongoing inquiry.

The Commission stated that upon completion of the investigation, it would take appropriate action, which may include the prosecution of those found culpable and recovery of any misappropriated public funds.
