DP Gachagua’s office defends Ksh 300M renovation budget

The Office of the Deputy President has defended its proposed additional allocation of funds in the coming financial year.

In a statement sent to newsrooms Thursday, DP Gachagua’s office said that it had requested for Ksh 300 Million for renovations in the 2024/2025 financial year.

Part of the funds would be used to renovate Harambee House Annex Office and his Official Residence in Karen and Mombasa respectively.

“The Harambee House Annex Office and Mombasa Residence have been neglected over the last 15 years affecting critical areas of habitability, safety and security,” the statement read.

Also, the funds, according to Gachagua’s office requested to be allocated Ksh 100 million to purchase office motor vehicles.

“For the last 10 years, the Office of The Deputy President has heavily relied on old, and refurbished vehicles which are costly to maintain, compromising service delivery,” the statement read further.

DP Gachagua’s office said the misrepresentation of facts and figures negates objectivity with facts been captured in the Hansard.
