The government is banking on Community Health Promoters to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all Kenyans, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said.

Gachagua stated that the impact of Community Health promoters is already evident at the grassroots level, just a few days after President William Ruto flagged off over 100, 000 Community Health Promoters to work in the 47 Counties.

“I wish to commend the Community Health Promoters, who have been engaged for this assignment. You are our heroes. We can’t pay you enough for the splendid work you are already undertaking. Once again, we count on your utmost dedication to deliver to Kenyans, the Promise of Universal Health Coverage,” said Gachagua.

The DP spoke on Monday during the opening of the universal health coverage pre-mashujaa conference week at Kapkatet stadium, Kericho County ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled for Friday.

Gachagua also inaugurated an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kapkatet Sub County Hospital in Bureti Constituency.

He noted that the facility will enhance medical services in the region and create a conducive environment for medical research and innovation.

This year’s Mashujaa Day is being celebrated under the theme of Universal Health Care.
