Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has warned politicians against interfering with the ongoing security operations in the bandit-prone North Rift region.

Kindiki, who toured Laikipia County on Thursday, said the region will be supplemented with a robust law enforcement presence to permanently end banditry.

“Political and other leaders must refrain from politicising security matters or trying to meddle with security operations to allow the organs and agencies of our national security wage a decisive, ruthless and conclusive war against the impunity and terror of banditry,” said Kindiki.

“The Government is determined to permanently destroy the intricate infrastructure of banditry by going for its benefactors, beneficiaries, accessories, planners and executors,” he added.

Kindiki said the multi-agency security officers deployed in the Six(6) North Rift Valley Counties will continue with the operation until the banditry menace is eradicated.

“We commend the officers for their diligence, commitment and patriotism in tackling the armed criminals who for years terrorised innocent residents and impoverished them economically,” said Kindiki.
