In a ceremony presided over by David Ongare, Director of Environmental Compliance, on behalf of the Director General Mamo B. Mamo exceptional students were honored for their unwavering commitment, hard work, and strong advocacy for environmental awareness.

The event, held at the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, also known as the Giraffe Centre, was part of the commemoration of World Environment Day (WED).

The ceremony celebrated the winners of the National Environmental Art and Essay Competition, a contest open to all learners across Kenya.

This competition encourages students to propose sustainable solutions for local environmental challenges through their art and essay submissions.

By engaging young minds in creative problem-solving, the competition aims to foster a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens who are equipped to tackle the pressing issues facing their communities.

The event culminated in an awards ceremony recognizing 50 trophy winners, marking a significant highlight in the WED celebrations organized by the institution.

The honored students showcased their innovative ideas and creative expressions, demonstrating a profound understanding of environmental stewardship.

This annual competition and subsequent awards ceremony not only celebrate the students’ achievements but also serve as a platform to inspire broader community engagement in environmental conservation efforts.
