The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a warrant for the arrest of Francis Ng’ang’a Gaitho, a suspect linked to multiple cyber-related offences, including publishing false information and cyber harassment.
Gaitho, whose photograph has been widely circulated by the DCI, was charged under Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act (Case No. CR E738/24) for publishing false information.
He failed to appear in court on December 4, 2024, leading the Milimani Law Courts to issue a warrant for his arrest.
The suspect is also under investigation for sharing the personal details of a senior public officer and disseminating false information about other citizens, actions that contravene the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act.
Furthermore, Gaitho faces multiple charges of cyber harassment, stemming from online posts in which he allegedly disparaged senior government officials. These additional cases are under review by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The DCI has urged the public to assist in locating the suspect. Any information that may lead to his arrest can be reported anonymously via the toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or at the nearest police station.
