Danish Defence delegation visits Kenya Navy

A delegation from the Danish Ministry of Defence and Danish Defence Command led by the Danish Defence Attaché (DA) to Kenya Colonel Jens Lindvig on Thursday visited Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe.

In a meeting with the Commander Kenya Navy Major General Thomas Ng’ang’a, the delegation discussed the Maritime Cooperation Agreement between the Kingdom of Denmark and Kenya which is aimed at combating maritime security threats among them piracy, terrorism and violent extremism.

Later, the delegation visited the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC) where they were taken on a tour of the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) and Firefighting Unit.

The FMBS, the delegation was briefed, has been very instrumental in training Kenya Navy Officers, Sailors and other maritime agencies.

The team also visited the Kenya Navy Clearance Diving Unit (CDU) where they were briefed on the diving capabilities of Kenya Navy divers.

Present during the visit was the Deputy Commander Kenya Navy Brigadier Peter Chelimo, Principal Staff Officers and Officers.
