CS Owalo attends Mobile World Congress in Kigali, Rwanda

Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo is in Kigali, Rwanda attending the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023.

The congress kicked off with a working Digital Discovery Breakfast Meeting, hosted by the World Economic Forum’s Edison Alliance.

The congress is set to involve Africa’s communications industry and all its stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, President Paul Kagame emphasized the tremendous potential of digital health technology in reshaping healthcare systems.

“The pandemic has accelerated the transition to a new era of technology-led development. Our young and talented entrepreneurs are driving this change, and we continue to support them… financial technology is starting to make a significant difference in the everyday lives of our citizens,” he said.

He further mentioned the importance of collaboration among African nations, saying that collaboration among African nations must be a priority in alignment with the shared vision of leveraging technology for the betterment of the continent.

Kenya boldly stepped forward, announcing its bid to host the Mobile World Congress in 2025.
