CS Bore meets IOM Director to boost migration governance, youth opportunities

Labour and Social Protection CS Florence Bore held talks with Ms. Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The meeting, which was also attended by Labour PS Shadrack Mwadime, focused on exploring strategies to leverage the partnership between Kenya and IOM to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in migration governance.

The discussion also centred on ensuring that migration contributes positively to sustainable development and the well-being of all Kenyans.

Both parties deliberated on ways to harness the networks of IOM to facilitate connections between Kenya and countries in need of labor, emphasising the importance of ethical recruitment practices to prevent exploitation.

The CS commended IOM for its support across various initiatives that align with the government’s agenda.

She underscored the importance of collaboration in creating job opportunities for Kenyan youth and leveraging migration as a catalyst for development and positive change.
