Cricket: Kenton School crowned Obuya Charity Cup champions

Kenton school beat Peponi House by 8 wickets to walk away with the first prize of the Obuya Charity Cup held Peponi House school.

Kenton won the toss and elected to field first. Peponi House scored 100 for 4 in 10 overs. Kenton scored 102 for 2 in 10 overs winning by 8 wickets.

It was a moment to behold as Kenton got awarded with the precious stumps that were used in Kenya’s historic 2003 World Cup semi-final clash against giants India cricket team in Durban, South Africa.

Obuya Academy side was eliminated from the tournament after losing their matches to the two finalists.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament was Arhan Shah with 40 runs and 2 wickets.

The fans who turned up to watch the colourful tournament had the opportunity to buy souvenir Kenya team shirts signed by 2003 Cricket World Cup legend, Collins Obuya who recently called time on his long international career.

The proceeds of the charity match will be used to support  education of needy students across five Counties as part of the Education and Sports project which was recently launched by Obuya Cricket Academy in collaboration with SAFAL MRM Foundation. The event is planned to happen annually.
