Comedian Crazy Kennar has once again ignited conversations in the online space with a new comedy short, released across multiple platforms.
In the now-viral video, Kennar portrays a politician being sworn into office, only to immediately begin amassing personal wealth, including grabbing land, moments after stepping off the podium.
The satirical video further depicts the politician, sporting a large belly, inaugurating a half-finished construction project after five years in office, symbolizing unfulfilled promises.
The clip has resonated with many Kenyans, reflecting the frustrations surrounding corruption and mismanagement of public resources by elected officials.
The timing of the video is significant as political tension in the country is running high, with widespread calls for greater accountability from government leaders.
Social media users quickly rallied behind Kennar’s portrayal, with many commending it as an accurate reflection of Kenya’s political climate.
One X user @Docktus remarked, “[This is] the truest depiction of our politics today” while another user @Owacali stated “Accurate and perfectly narrated. We need such performances during Mashujaa day.”
This is not the first time that Kennar has taken aim at politicians.
In September, he released a parody skit showing a politician awarding a road construction tender and then immediately pocketing a share of the money.
Crazy Kennar is among several comedians who are using their art and platforms to highlight current political issues.
Other comedians including Blessed Njugush, Terence Creative, and Mammito Eunice have also gained popularity for their bold political parodies. Through their humour, these artistes provide a refreshing yet critical lens on the realities of Kenyan politics.
