A sombre mood has engulfed Laare village, Gitithia in Lari Constituency after a couple perished in a night fire allegedly caused by an electrical fault.
Peter Kimani Kuria and Mirriam Muthoni were burned beyond recognition after their house burst into flames overwhelming neighbours who came to their rescue.
A neighbour, Benjamin Gatambia said the area has been experiencing power fluctuations for a month.
While confirming the incident Gitithia Location Chief Samuel Kahoro who appealed for calm, said police have commenced investigations to establish the cause of the fire.
Lari Kirenga MCA said he will take up the matter with Kenya Power to conduct a thorough audit of the losses incurred by the residents.
