A 40-year-old man attempted to kill all his four children before taking his own life in Rangwe, Homabay County.

In the disturbing incident that occurred in Kamenya village, Ronny Ochieng slit the stomachs of his two last-born sons who are twins aged 3 with a sharp knife, before poisoning his two daughters aged 5 and 9 years.

The man then ingested the same poison suspected to be an acaricide.

Luckily, well-wishers who heard the horrific screams of the children rushed to the scene and rescued them.

They are currently admitted to the Homabay Teaching and Referral Hospital, in critical condition.

The father was however pronounced dead on arrival at the same hospital.

During the time of the incident, the children’s mother was said to have been away fending for the family when their father turned on them.

Detectives have since established that the man was due to appear at the Children’s department offices in Rangwe on December 14, 2022, where he had been summoned after endless domestic wrangles.
