Renowned Kenyan comedian and media personality, Vincent Mwasia Mutua, popularly known as Chipukeezy, has been appointed as the Assistant Director of Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President.
The news was announced by Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Special Projects in the President’s office.
Taking to social media, Itumbi congratulated Chipukeezy on the role, asking him to serve with unwavering passion.
“Congratulations on your appointment as assistant Director… May you serve unwavering focus and passions we work together to drive the success of The Creative Economy,” he said.
This significant appointment marks a milestone in Chipukeezy’s evolving career, transitioning from entertainment to a pivotal governmental role.
Chipukeezy first gained national recognition through his performances on the Churchill Show, where his distinctive humor and relatable narratives endeared him to many Kenyans.
Beyond comedy, this isn’t Chipukeezy’s first public service role. In 2018, he was appointed to the Board of Directors at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), where he later served as the Vice Chairperson.
The comedian also hosted a show on KBC called “The Chipukeezy Show” which aired in September 2023 every Monday.
In his new capacity his role will likely involve coordinating official events and managing protocols within the Executive Office.
This development underscores the government’s commitment to the creative sector’s potential in contributing to national development.
