Sauti Sol’s Chimano released his latest single titled Fashion on October 4, a groovy song with an energetic rhythm describing the singer’s love for fashion.
True to the song’s title, the music video showcases a range of colourful and eccentric looks that attest to the singer’s style. Chimano is known for his bold style and experimentation with fashion that pushes the boundary for what is considered ideal for men’s style.
At an Engage Talk event in 2020, the singer stated that fashion offers him an outlet for self-expression, adding that he has always loved experimenting with fashion from a young age.
“For me, fashion is about challenging toxic masculinity and I love it.”
Speaking on the song’s release, Chimano stated that it had taken two years to compose and release the track.
“This baby is finally ready to be delivered! It was conceived two years ago and just been incubating ever since. As with a lot of us creatives, we want to achieve ‘perfection’ but it’s a lie. I’m learning progress over perfection. Everything is working out just how it was supposed to. “
The song was written by fellow Sauti Sol band-mate, Bien and produced by Ghanaian music producer Afrolektra in collaboration with Kenyan music producer DTX.
