Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has appointed Isaac Kiva as the acting managing director of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) for a period of six months.

Kiva who is currently the Secretary for Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy will move to the new position after being seconded by the CS to replace Anthony Wamukota who has been acting MD since resignation of now Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa in February last year.

“This is to bring your attention that following a meeting of the Board of Directors held on 26th January 2023, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has appointed Eng. Isaac Kiva, OGW to be seconded from the Ministry, as acting Managing Director and CEO for six (6) months from 27th January 2023 or until the position is competitively filled, whichever is earlier,” said Abdi Bare Duale, KETRACO Chairman.

Kiva has vast experience in formulation of policies and regulations, project preparation and development, design of electrical services, and contract management among others.

He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Energy Technology from JKUAT and a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nairobi.

Kiva’s entry to KETRACO is expected to consolidate both professional and financial resources to facilitate the completion of ongoing projects some of which are in the final stages of their completion, the firm said.

.He is expected to steer projects teams and advise the Board of Directors to navigate and steady the Company through the interim window.
