Bomas of Kenya, a premier cultural heritage centre, has announced a temporary two-month closure to facilitate improvements aimed at enhancing visitor experiences.

During this period, the institution will be revamping its services and introducing new cultural offerings to elevate its engagement with the public.

Announcing the news on social media, the notice thanks Kenyans for their continued support.

“Bomas of Kenya wishes to inform you that we will be taking a two-month break from offering our cultural services,” the statement reads. “This is to allow us to enhance our offerings and introduce improved services and products that will elevate your cultural experience with us.”

However, while the physical site will remain closed, Bomas of Kenya will continue to offer off-site cultural services, including traditional dance performances.

“Additionally, we are still offering off-site services, including traditional dance performances among others. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to welcoming you back with enriched services,” the statement concluded.

The Bomas of Kenya has long been a key institution in preserving and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the country. It was first opened in “1971 by the Government of Kenya under the Companies Act (CAP 486), Laws of Kenya, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kenya Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), currently Kenya Development Corporation (KDC).”

As the only national body with a mandate in cultural tourism, the institution is expected to preserve the authenticity of Kenya’s cultures and portray them in their pure form.
