Banditry Menace: Baringo Woman Rep calls for resignation of IG Koome

Baringo County Woman Representative Florence Jematia has called for the resignation of Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome over escalating insecurity in the North Rift. 

Speaking during ‘Nkitainoto Olpapit’ ceremony (Shaving of hair) in Eldebe ,Baringo South Constituency, Jematia blamed Koome for not taking directives from President William Ruto on ending banditry in the region urging the President to crack the whip.

At the same time, former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Thomas Letangule urged the President address the escalating insecurity in the region.

Following insecurity in Saimo Soi ward since January over 3,200 families have fled their homes forced to live in IDP camps in Moinonin with 17 people killed.

20 schools have also close down in the area.

Amid the insecurity concerns,  Ilchamus community is urging government to establish a new Constituency for the community to address marginalisation.
