Babu Owino’s family storms Wang’uru Police Station, demands his release

Drama ensued at the Wang’uru Police Station in Mwea Kirinyaga County after the family of Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino stormed the police station demanding his release.

The family alleges that the lawmaker is currently being held at the station and wants his release or arraignment in court saying they have been denied access to their kin.

The police were forced to send the family out of the station to restore calm.

“My husband has been held unlawfully for 24 hours, we don’t even know what the charges are. He deserves his rights for he is a Kenyan citizen and is being persecuted for standing up and fighting for the rights of Kenyans. We demand his unconditional release” said the MP’s wife Fridah Muthoni who speaking at the police station.

Babu was allegedly arrested at JKIA on his return from Mombasa.
