Anti-Finance Bill protesters recognized at Pulse Influencer Awards

The 2024 Pulse Influencer Awards, held on October 12, recognized new influential personalities who emerged during the Anti-Finance Bill protests.

These protests propelled fresh voices into the spotlight, including Kasmuel McOure, Hanifa Farsafi, and That News Guy, who were among the night’s standout winners.

Kasmuel McOure, also known as Kaskazini, won the Next Gen Influencer of the Year award.

A political activist known for his sharp criticism of the government, McOure gained attention during the protests for his articulate speeches and signature suit-and-tie-style.

His influence has since grown, making him a prominent voice in the country’s political discourse.

Hanifa Farsafi took home the award for X Influencer of the Year, acknowledging her impactful online activism on the X Platform. Hanifa rose to prominence during the protests, advocating for political reform and supporting the rights of demonstrators.

She even mobilised financial aid for injured protesters. In an emotional acceptance speech, she dedicated her award to those who lost their lives during the protests.

Another major winner of the night was That News Guy, a TikTok blogger who received the Media and Blogger Influencer of the Year award.

Known for his real-time updates during the protests, he became a fan favourite for documenting events while actively participating in the demonstrations.

After receiving the award, he expressed gratitude to his followers in a heartfelt speech.

“Finally guys it’s home, Media and Blogger Influencer of the Year Pulse Awards 2024…Nawashukuru sana…everyone who has been part of this journey.”

The Pulse Influencer Awards, are an annual event celebrating influential figures across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

Other winners of the night included Instagram influencer Lydia KM, tech influencer Roy Kanyi, fashion influencers Claudia Naisabwa and Mr. Habib and Animators – Fatboy Animations.

Obinna TV won in the Youtube category while Dem Wa Facebook was recognized as Facebook Influencer of the Year.

Actors Nick Kwach and Jacky Vike also took home the award while the 97s Podcast won podcast of the year.

Athlete Faith Kipyegon won for her achievements in sports, while Sueh Owino was recognised as Food Influencer of the Year. Spoken Word Artist Willie Oeba, TikTok star Kayet Orwa, and Sauti Sol’s Bien were also among the winners.

Business influencers Elvis W and Just Ivy Africa, lifestyle influencer Victor Peace, dancer Collo Blue, and comedian Crazy Kennar rounded off the list of honorees at this year’s ceremony.
