Actress Wanjiru Mburu better known as Mama Baha from her role on ‘Machachari’ has appealed to the government for help finding her missing brother George.

In January 2014, George Mburu, an engineer, was abducted in Mogadishu, Somalia while working on a project with his cousin – George Macharia.

This thrust his family into a prolonged state of uncertainty and despair, as they sought answers without receiving any concrete communication about his whereabouts.

In a TikTok video, the actress said that after a decade, she has received a phone call from a man claiming to be her brother.

According to Wanjiku, her brother described the harsh conditions he has endured over the last decade, including being confined in a small space and frequently handcuffed.

Appealing to the president, Wanjiru said: “There are Kenyans in Mogadishu right but I only know about my brother George. My brother wants to come home. He has diabetes and his condition is ongoing.”

In her appeal, Wanjiku emphasised the emotional toll her brother’s disappearance has taken on their family, including George’s son, who was only a few weeks old when his father was abducted.

This isn’t the first public appeal she has made, in 2017, she wrote a letter to then-President Uhuru Kenyatta, outlining her family’s struggles and frustration over the lack of government action.

Despite several meetings with officials and promises of support, little progress was made, leaving the family disillusioned.

To conclude, she asked Kenyans of goodwill to rally around her call for support saying, “Wakenya wenzangu, tuungame. Leo ni mimi, kesho ni nyinyi.” (My fellow Kenyans let’s unite. Today it is me, tomorrow it will be you.)
