The government has kicked of the sale of 4,888 units across the country under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP).
The State Department for Housing and Urban Development announced the beginning of a series of open days showcasing available units which are up for sale.
Interested buyers are first required to pay a deposit for an identified unit that includes provision of a mortgage facility.
Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary Charles Hinga has invited prospective home owners to take advantage of the holiday season to visit the 24 AHP sites strewn across Kenya to inspect the housing units.
“We would like to invite you all to attend the open days scheduled to take place in Machakos this Saturday( 21st December)and across our 23 other projects countrywide to view the showhouses on site and the various housing units near completion,” said Hinga.
The units at the Machakos Affordable Housing project comprise of 40 One-Bedroom Units, 60 Two-Bedroom Units and 60 Three-Bedroom Units, with generous green spaces for relaxation and leisure, adequate parking for all homeowners.
So far, the government has a total of 4888 units of different typologies on offer for sale across different parts of the country and plans are at an advanced stage to launch more projects thereby giving more choices of housing units to choose from.
The open days also gives Kenyans a platform to make inquiries about AHP, seek assistance on how to register on the Bomayangu portal as well as how to make payment by instalments for the various units.
The payment option also allows Kenyans to pay for their selected units under a rent-to-own arrangement for up to 25 years. Home owners can also pay off for their select units in a lumpsum.
