Ex-Minister Peter Aringo to be laid to rest in Siaya

Former Education Minister Peter Oloo Aringo will be laid to rest at his home is Alego Usonga Saturday this week.

The family and funeral planning committee said the funeral requiem mass will take place at the Consolata Shrine, Westlands tomorrow (Wednesday) and he will be interred on November 23rd in Siaya County.

The late Education Cabinet Minister and Alego Usonga Member of Parliament died on November 1st while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi Hospital.

Achievements

The late Peter Oloo Aringo was the founder and former Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Service Commission.

He was an ardent advocate for Parliamentary independence and reform creating some of the structures of Parliament today.

Aringo is also attributed to the birth of the 8-4-4 education system from 7-4-2-3 system and oversaw the expansion of technical and higher education in Kenya, notably transforming Maseno, Egerton and Moi Universities into public institutions.

He also served in various ministries which include information and Broadcasting, Environment and Employment.

His active role was a Commissioner of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission between 2011-2017 where he worked to set the remuneration policy guide and the entire public sector streamlining and correcting pay imbalance.
