Uasin Gishu County government’s newly sworn Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea has assured governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim and area residents of a legacy of service excellence that the future generation will remember and emulate as they serve in the same capacity.
Kapkea who is the 3rd deputy governor in the county since the inception of devolution expressed gratitude to his boss, for the honour and trust he had in him by appointing him as his principal assistant. He noted that he is a determined and humble servant of the people and a representative of the youth.
“This captures the profound gratitude I felt at that moment. I commit myself to serve with dedication. My appointment as the deputy governor is a message to young people everywhere with faith, hard work, resilience and a commitment to serve others. You invite opportunities to rise,” he noted.
Kapkea who spoke during his swearing in ceremony, at the county headquarters, Eldoret city, promised to serve area resident with integrity, dedication and loyalty to the shared vision they behold together.
“I accept this responsibility with humility and resolve confident in a well-founded decision. I promise to serve you your excellency and the people of Uasin Gishu diligently upholding the values of this office,” added the Deputy governor.
He affirmed that he is guided by the county administration’s development agenda Nguzo Kumi blueprint, the constitution of Kenya and other laws as he commended the governor for his commitment to realise its goals.
“The blueprint is a testament of our shared vision and I am honoured to walk alongside the governor to play a transformative service to our residents,” stated Kapkea.
Prior to his appointment he was the chair of the Trade, Industrialisation, Tourism and Investment Committee in the County Assembly, and was a member of various important committees that included Budget and Finance, Health, and Delegated Legislation.
Kapkea attended the University of Eldoret for a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field at Moi University.
In his remarks, during the swearing in ceremony, Governor Bii praised Kapkea for his accomplishments, particularly his leadership as Chair of Trade committee in the county assembly when he was the MCA for Tembelio Ward in Moiben Sub-County.
“You are not just another leader; you are unique,” the Governor noted, highlighting Kapkea’s contributions to strengthening trade, which has become a vital pillar of the county’s economy.
He indicated that it is a great day for the progressive administration, to welcome the new youth deputy governor to the shared journey of service and growth.
“His dedication service as the MCA of Tembelio ward, his commitment and tirelessness in the county assembly, caught my attention when I was seeking a deputy governor and I have no doubt he was the right choice,” said Dr Bii.
Additionally, Governor Bii expressed appreciation for the contribution of the outgoing Deputy County Boss Eng John Barorot to the development of the county and lauded his role in pushing forward key projects especially in transforming the ICT sector.
