Kenya is confident of becoming the 1st African country to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships following its unsuccessful attempt for next year’s edition which was awarded to Tokyo Japan.
In an exclusive Interview Athletics Kenya Executive member Barnaba Korir said they are banking on the new stadium under construction, the Talanta City Sports Complex as well as the renovations of the Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums to give them an edge.
“Our main undoing in our last bid for 2025 World was lack of enough venues since we only had Kasarani stadium, but we appreciate the effort being undertaken by our government to facelift our stadia and the construction of the ultra modern Talanta City Sports Complex.am convinced by 2029 we will have a very strong bid.”Korir asserted
The 20th edition of the biennial global Athletes prime competition will be held in Tokyo Japan in September 2025 while Beijing has been awarded the 2027 edition,12 years since staging the last competition.
