The National Assembly Committee on Appointments will today finalize the Approval Hearings for President William Ruto’s CS nominees.
The Committee Chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula has already completed the vetting of former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, the CS nominee for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.
The Committee is also expected to vet Alfred Nganga Mutua, nominee CS, Labor and Social Protection, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, nominee CS, Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi, nominee CS, Public Service and Human Capital Development and Stella Soi Lang’at, Nominee CS, Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage.
The Committee interrogated a wide range of issues, including the current status of the country’s economy, pending bills, infrastructure development, tourism, energy regulations, communications gaps among other topics.
Speaking after the end of day three of the vetting exercise, Speaker Wetang’ula indicated that the vetting process had given Members a chance to scrutinize and assess the candidate’s qualifications, experience, capacity, and review suitability in line with their vision for their respective roles.
Committee Members put to task nominees to elaborate the understanding of their mandates in their various positions that they were seeking to be confirmed for appointment.
