National Heroes Council launches five-year strategic plan

The National Heroes Council has launched a five-year strategic plan that will guide it on implementing key targets among them identifying heroes across the country and how to honor them.

Gender and Culture Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa who presided over the launch said the government was keen on having its heroes and those who have contributed immensely to the growth of the country to be inscribed in the hall of Fame.

The launch of plan at the Bomas of Kenya coincided with the unveiling of its new corporate Logo. 

CS Jumwa noted that the plan will ensure a sound strategic direction for the council as it embarks on its mandate.

Jumwa said the strategic plan will provide a platform for the Council to enhance its brand for citizens to engage and clearly understand the process of identifying and honoring heroes.

The CS further challenging the council to redouble its effort and avoid past mistakes where undeserving individuals were honored at the expense of women, persons living with disability and those who have made great contributions to the development of this country.

National Heroes  Council Chairman Jimmy Angwenyi and Chief Executive Officer Charles Wambai expressed  commitment to ensure the strategic plan achieves its desired purpose.
