The government has released Ksh3.2 billion for the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme June 2024 payment.
State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs PS Joseph Motari announced Monday that Ksh3,215,992,000 had been disbursed to 1,607,996 beneficiaries up from 1,037,773 in May 2024.
570,263 new beneficiaries have been onboarded into the programme. The PS said payment will commence this week on Wednesday.
This follows the President’s directive to upscale the programme to 2.5M beneficiaries which will be done in phases.
“The Ministry has onboarded 570,263 new beneficiaries. The total number of beneficiaries in the June payroll is 1,607,996 up from 1,037,733 in May 2024. All those new beneficiaries who have opened bank accounts will be paid from Wednesday” he said.
Inua Jamii programme is a Government cash transfer initiative that supports the most vulnerable members of the community by providing them with a stipend to cushion them from poverty, and hunger and improve their lives.
It targets persons aged 70 years and above, orphans and vulnerable children as well as people living with severe disability who have no other income nor pension.
