The application portal for scholarships and loans for students joining universities and TVET institutions will be officially opened tomorrow.
In a statement Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said the applications were due to open on Saturday, June 15, but the ministry pushed it forward due to Eid ul-Adha celebrations.
Last July Machogu launched the Higher Education Financing (HEF) Portal, through which applications for scholarships, loans and bursaries would be made after admission letters were received. The model was created to channel higher education funds directly to individual student.
To be eligible to apply, one must have been placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to pursue an undergraduate, diploma, craft certificate, or artisan course at one of Kenya’s accredited public universities or TVET colleges.
“We wish to assure all parents, guardians and students that the Government will allow sufficient time for all eligible learners to apply for the funding in the form of scholarships and loans, in the spirit of leaving no one behind.” The CS said.
