The government has closed the major Internally displaced persons camp at PBB Prayer Centre, which housed 46 families who lost their homes in the Mai Mahiu floods, giving victims hope for rebuilding their lives.
On Saturday, the disaster management team, formed after the tragedy, met with the victims to outline the government’s resettlement plan.
All 170 victims, including those in rented houses, those integrated elsewhere, and those at PBB, received shares of donations stored at PBB as part of their support package.
Nakuru Lands CEC John Kihagi, area MCA Eliud Kamau, and representatives from the office of area MP Jane Kihara attended the official dismissal.
However, victims still searching for their loved ones continue to urge the government not to halt the search mission.
