The First Lady, Mama rachel Ruto has urged all Kenyans to join the call by President William Ruto, to plant at least 30 trees every year, for Kenya to fulfil its vision of growing 15 billion trees by the year 2032.
The first lady accompanied the President to Maragua Constituency, Muranga Country, for a tree planting exercise at Kiambicho Forest, Muranga County, in observance of National Tree Planting Day.
“The success of our efforts to restore the environment hinges on collective action. If each of us grows at least 50 trees annually, we can make significant progress in mitigating the effects of climate change through tree planting.” Said First Lady.
Over 20,000 trees were planted during the excercise.
The president further directed that the tree-planting marathon continue for the next six months.
