Police in Kericho County are investigating an incident where a 24-year-old man committed suicide by hanging with a sisal rope in his house at Majengo area on the outskirts of Kericho.

In the bizarre 4:00 pm incident on Saturday, the body of the deceased was found hanging from the roof of his single room rented house.

Confirming the incident, Ainamoi sub-county Police Commander Peter Mutuma said the matter was reported by the deceased’s uncle identified as Aaron Kosgei after attempts to get hold of him through his mobile phone over the last six days were unsuccessful.

“It was reported by Aron Kosgei that they had not been able to trace his nephew Collins Kipkorir since April 8, 2024 and that he could not be reached on his mobile phone and on Saturday April 13, 2024 that the family decided to gain access into his house located within Majengo area by breaking the wooden door and found his body,” said Mutuma.

The Ainamoi sub-county police boss added that the body of the deceased was found with a sisal rope tied around his neck hanging from the roof trusses before it was removed by police officers.

The suicide note was found on the deceased.
