Musician Otile Brown performed his song “One Call” at Brian Chira’s burial currently taking place in Githunguri, Kiambu.
The song, released one year ago featuring Tanzanian musician Ruby was a favourite of the late content creator.
The musician promised earlier this week to attend the burial and perform it once he learned how much Chira had loved the song.
Brown also acknowledged that the song’s streaming numbers could be attributed to Chira and urged those attending the burial to learn the lyrics to celebrate Chira’s life.
The song currently has 4.7M views on YouTube.
“What Chira is doing to #OneCall is just crazy. His light is bright and the love is felt. Sending you love and prayers…rest well king.
“Would love to perform the song at the burial and help make it memorable for him to if that is possible.
“If possible, to the people attending please learn the lyrics so we sing and celebrate him,” Otile Brown said.
Brown kept his promise on Tuesday by performing the song at Chira’s funeral.
Brian Chira died on March 16 after succumbing to injuries sustained during a hit and run incident.
At his funeral, his grandmother, Esther Njeri, paid tribute to him saying he had left a “void” in their lives.
“Brian has left a huge void in our lives. I pray that God will raise up a strong and vibrant one in one of my grandchildren.
“Chira always asked me to love him as he was and I loved him with all his faults,” she said.
Chira, often considered one of Kenya’s most controversial TikTokers, took care of his cousins despite his own challenges according to his grandmother.
“Brian always worked hard to take care of his cousins. My grandson, I loved you from the moment you came into my life until your last breath. I’ll miss you so much,” said Njeri.
Chira was 27 at the time of his death.
