A 27 year old pastor who separately defiled two primary school pupils has been sentenced to 38 years in jail.
In the first case, Mariakani Resident Magistrate Olivia Koranje sentenced Samuel Ngumbao Harrison to 30 years in prison for defiling a student aged 14.
Hon Koranje ruled that the case against Samuel was proved to the required legal standard with six witnesses of the prosecution led by PC Annette Wanjohi giving credible and reliable evidence.
In the second case, Mariakani law courts Principal Magistrate Nelly Adalo sentenced Samuel to eight years in jail for defiling a 16 years old student.
Hon Adalo declared that the prosecution led by Senior Prosecution Counsel Jethron Okumu proved the case beyond any reasonable doubt.
Samuel defiled both students on 12th August and 17th August, 2022 at Mwavumbo area at Mwavumbo location in Samburu Sub County, within Kwale County.
The minors narrated how the pastor duped them into his house before defiling them in turn. They first met him in one of his public sermons before sneaking them into the house.
In both cases, he was charged with defilement contrary to section 8(1) as read with section 8(4) of the sexual offences Act.
He was also charged with an alternative count of committing an indecent act contrary to section 11(1) of the Sexual Offence.
