Cabinet endorses construction of Talanta Stadium at Jamhuri

The Cabinet has endorsed the construction of a new stadium in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2027.

The new stadium will be constructed in Nairobi in readiness for the championship that Kenya jointly won the bid to host alongside her east Africa neighbours Tanzania and Uganda.

The cabinet, in a meeting chaired by President William Ruto at State House Nairobi endorsed the construction of the new 60,000 capacity Talanta Stadium which will be constructed at Jamhuri in Nairobi and is one of the four stadia presented by Kenya to host the 38th edition of Africa cup of nations in 2027.

The cabinet also okayed the renovation of other key facilities that are set to host the bienial tournament.

Facilities that are in line for renovations include; Moi International Sports Centre-Kasarani, Nyayo Stadium, and Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.

Kenya,Uganda and Tanzania won the bid to host the continental showpiece in 2027 while Morocco will host the 2025 finals.
