The Women in Film Awards (WIFA) honoured Kenyan women working in the film industry earlier this week with an awards ceremony that took place at the Kenya National Theatre.

Now in its sixth year, WIFA honours outstanding contributions by women in the film and television industry, recognising excellence in directing, producing, scriptwriting, cinematography, and more.
Some of Kenya’s most gripping dramas were celebrated at the ceremony, among them 4Play’s Abigail Arunga won the Best Scriptwriter – TV Drama award for their work on Showmax’s adult drama and Yvonne Wanjiku won for Best Scriptwriter – Film for When the Gods Argue.
MultiChoice Talent Factory alumni Linda Dina (Class of 2024) and Audrey Egesa (Class of 2022) shined during the gala event winning the Best Sound Designer and Best Newcomer Producer trophies for their Maisha Magic projects.
Speaking on the recognition, Nzola Miranda, Managing Director of MultiChoice, reiterated the company’s commitment to fostering opportunities for women in the film industry.
