Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia, famously known as 2Baba has publicly shared that he has filed for divorce.
In a controversial public post that the musician has since deleted, he said that he and his wife Annie Macaulay Idibia had been separated “for a while now.”
“Well this thing I have to say is short but also long,” he began. “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now. And currently filed divorce.” (sic)
The news comes after the couple, whose marriage has been the subject of online debate since their debut on the Netflix reality series ‘Young Famous and African’, came under even more scrutiny with the third season of the series when 2Baba did not make an appearance alongside his wife Annie.
In his statement, 2Baba said that he would release a longer statement later explaining his side of the story.
“I would grant a press release soon to say my story… not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offence,” he said.
The two married in a lavish ceremony in Dubai in 2012.
Since her debut on the series, Annie has detailed her experience of being married to 2Baba detailing their relationship even before he became famous.
