The scenic coastal town of Kilifi is set to host the highly anticipated 2024 Africa Triathlon Cup on 23 and 24 November 2024.
The sporting event will gather top triathletes from around the world for an exhilarating display of endurance, skill, and determination across swimming, cycling, and running. With Kilifi’s stunning coastline as the backdrop, the event provides a unique blend of world-class competition and natural beauty.
The competition will feature a variety of categories, including Elite Women, Elite Men, Youth Men and Women, Age Group athletes, and Schools Aquathlon races. Elite athletes will compete in a challenging sprint-distance race comprising a 750-metre swim, a 20-kilometre bike ride, and a 5-kilometre run. Junior, Youth, and Age Group athletes will also participate, alongside students competing in school-level categories.
Athletes from across the globe are expected to grace the event, with confirmed participants from Tanzania, Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, Mauritius, Cambodia, Austria, Germany, and Japan. This diversity highlights the event’s growing international appeal and its role in fostering global sporting connections.
Sanctioned by World Triathlon, the Africa Triathlon Cup is open to all athletes from member federations. It aims to provide a competitive platform for athletes in developing nations to measure up against their global counterparts. Additionally, the event offers valuable World Triathlon ranking points, making it a significant milestone for athletes striving to climb the global rankings.
The competition includes a prize purse of $300 for the top five Elite Men and Women, further raising the stakes and rewarding exceptional performances.
