The 16th leg of the ongoing KCB East Africa Golf Tour has attracted over 200 players. The leg is set for this weekend at the par 72 Nyali Golf and Country Club, Mombasa.
The players will be battling for slots at the series grand finale which will be held on December 15 at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi.
Two teams from the Nyali edition will join 13 other teams that have already booked their places in the much-anticipated Pro-Am grand finale event that will see top pros and amateurs compete for various prizes.
“It is important for us to give an opportunity to golfers within the coastal region to be part of the East Africa Golf Tour because we do not want to leave anyone behind. Our aim is to expand the sport of golf and contribute to its growth as we believe in the power of talent. We expect a huge turnout in Nyali as we gear up for the grand event that will mark the end of this year’s series,” noted KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru.
The latest pairs to secure grand finale slots were Jackson Musomba, Simon Kimatu, Ben Mumo, Francis Mbithi, Joseph Malatu, Francis Musembi, Kyalo Munyao, and Engineer Okemwa at the Machakos Golf Club.
Nyali Golf Club Captain Dinesh Sasan expressed his optimism of the tourney.
“We have been working on our greens since we received confirmation that we would be part of the KCB Golf series. Excitement and anticipation are building among the golfers from within this region and they cannot wait to brave the greens to compete for the top honors. We are looking forward to this tournament.”
Saturday’s action will culminate in a ladies’ and juniors golf clinic on Sunday morning.
The penultimate round of the series will be held at the Nandi Bears Club in two weeks’ time after the Nyali edition
