The Kenya Defense forces are today celebrating the 12th anniversary since the launch of operation Linda Nchi in October 2011 in an event to be held at the Embakasi Garrison.
The special day has been observed annualy since October 2012 to commemorate and to celebrate the acts of valor and gallantry by KDF heroes and heroines.
Last year, the celebrations were marked at the Laikipia air base and were presided over by president William Ruto under the theme “towards Sustainable Welfare for the Kenya Defence Forces Fraternity Welfare.
During the celebrations, soldiers who performed exceptionally well in their duties are usually recognized and presented with awards in recognition of their remarkable work.
This year’s celebrations come as the country’s military prepares to exit Somalia with defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Dualle announcing that the troops, serving under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia, will leave the mission by end of next year with the process achieved in four phases.
